I love the way social media invites us to participate – not just online – but in the real world. No longer are we relegated to the sidelines, passively watching the story take place. Now, we all have the option to join-in the creation, distribution and consumption of the story. We're even invited to remix the content or rewrite our own version.

Perhaps, "social media" is a misnomer. If traditional media is passive media, maybe we should call social media "active media".

I like that, calling it "active media" - it certainly has made me a lot more active than I've been in a long time! Thanks, Charlie.

Hey Mike - great recap. Last Thursday was a blast and I agree how events like IgniteDetroit are important to our community. Glad I could make you laugh. Tears of joy are a true compliment.

It was a great event, I hope that next time we can have it at a larger venue :) The people of Detroit is what makes Detroit so great. It is all about the possibilities of what we can become "together".

The people are the reason that I moved downtown and I hope to convince others to join me :)

Thanks Dave. Make me laugh, you did. In spades.

Tina: I agree, I hope it can be a larger venue next time, since there were so many people who wanted to attend who couldn't. And as word gets out how great this one was, it'll only create more demand next time. I also hope it stays downtown. Loved being down there with all the great Detroiters.

Thank You Dave :) I hope it stays downtown as well. It was nice to not have to drive to a venue for a change :D WOHOOO

So happy that Ignite is making its way through Michigan. We've had a wonderful time here in Lansing with ours. Thanks to the author for a great explanation of what Ignite can do. While we're completely sold-out (600+) for Ignite Lansing 3.0, you can watch the live stream online this Friday 3/5/2010 starting at 6:30PM - http://video.ignitelansing.com. Follow @ignitelansing for more info.
